Leaders and residents of Masaka have been urged to put aside political differences and work closely with security agencies to promote peace and development in the region.

The call was made by Brig. Gen. Jackson Kajuba during a memorial prayer service held in honour of the late Maj. Gen. Deus Ssande.

The memorial service, held at Greton Hotel in Masaka City, brought together a cross-section of leaders, including religious figures, army officers, political leaders, and members of the public from different faiths.

The prayers were led by Rev. Fr. Paul Ntambaazi, who used the occasion to call on leaders to exercise humility and selflessness in their service.

In his sermon, Fr. Ntambaazi cautioned against the misuse of power, warning that oppressive leadership leaves a negative legacy. He instead praised the late Maj. Gen. Ssande as a leader who served with integrity and consideration for others.

He also appealed to the public to abandon hatred, division, and unnecessary conflict, noting that life is short and that earthly struggles are ultimately fleeting.

Fr. Ntambaazi further expressed concern over the growing influence of immoral music, which he said is negatively shaping the behaviour of young people and contributing to domestic conflicts. He urged Christians to continue praying for the departed and to seek eternal peace for their souls.
